Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The University of Victoria is committed to and responsible for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in physics. The 2019 FCPC conference welcomes all delegates and encourages participation from everyone, of every gender, gender identity or gender expression, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, body size, race, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, age, political affiliation, educational background, wealth, or health status. We recognize a shared responsibility to create and hold a welcoming environment for the benefit of all.

Discriminatory, harassing or bullying behavior or action of any kind will not be tolerated, and will result in your removal from the 2019 FPCP conference, notification of appropriate authorities if necessary, and possible ban from future UVic-organized conferences and events. This includes, but is not limited to:

1)     sexual harassment, such as using sexual imagery in a talk, unwelcome sexual attention, unsolicited physical contact, sexual or sexist jokes, and stalking (see more information about UVic’s sexualized violence policy)

2)     discriminating against or harassing someone based on their identity (see more information about UVic’s discrimination and harassment policy);

3)     Other forms of unwelcome behaviour, including

a)     intimidation, such as yelling at or threatening speakers verbally or physically;

b)     offensive or demeaning language including inappropriate jokes.
